Education Saving (SSPN) Tax Relief

Saving for your child's education can help you prepare for future education expenses. Eligible net savings in the National Education Savings Scheme (SSPN) may qualify for personal income tax relief, subject to LHDN requirements.

SSPN Net Saving

Maximum relief

RM8,000

For YA2025, the eligible amount is calculated by subtracting the total withdrawals made during the year from the total deposits made during the same year.

  • Calculation:

Net Savings = Total Deposits − Total Withdrawals

  • Example:

If your total deposits were RM10,000 and your total withdrawals were RM2,000, your net savings would be RM8,000. The amount claimable remains subject to the applicable eligibility conditions and relief limit.

What saving qualify?

  1. Eligible net savings deposited into an SSPN account during the relevant year.
  2. Net savings calculated after deducting withdrawals made during the same year.

Note: The claim is subject to the applicable SSPN account, depositor and LHDN requirements.

Who is eligible?

Eligibility and the right to claim depend on the SSPN account, the relevant depositor and the applicable LHDN rules. The relief is subject to the rules governing claims by a husband or wife.

Supporting Documents

  • SSPN annual statement
  • Records of deposits and withdrawals
  • Relevant account and beneficiary details

Important note

  • The maximum relief is RM8,000 for YA2025.
  • The relief is based on eligible net savings, not simply the total deposits.
  • Deposits and withdrawals made during the relevant year must be taken into account.
  • Claims must comply with LHDN's requirements.
